The Belleville Police Service responded to 56 calls for service between February 19th, 2019 at 5:00 a.m. and February 20th, 2019 at 5:00 a.m.

Motor vehicle collisions

Belleville, Ontario – On February 19th, 2019 at 11:53 a.m., officers attended on Strachan Street in relation to a two-car collision. A 54-year-old Belleville man was charged with driving while under suspension. There were no injuries.

On February 19th, 2019 at 12:04 p.m., officers attended on Station Street at Ashley Street in relation to a two-car collision. A 90-year-old Belleville man was charged with careless driving. There were no injuries.

On February 19th, 2019 at 6:46 p.m., officers attended on Evans Street at Geddes Street in relation to a two-car collision. A 26-year-old Belleville man was charged with failing to stop at a stop sign. There were no injuries.

Prohibited Driver

Belleville, Ontario – On February 20th, 2019 at 1:18 a.m., an officer on patrol conducted a traffic stop on Herchimer Avenue. A check revealed that the driver was a prohibited driver. 50-year-old Joy MacRae of Belleville was charged with driving while prohibited. She will appear in court on March 14th, 2019.

Liquor Licence arrests

Belleville, Ontario – On February 19th, 2019 at 6:30 p.m., officers attended at an apartment building on Village Drive in relation to a male causing a disturbance in the hallway. A 23-year-old Belleville man was arrested for his own protection under the Liquor Licence Act. A further check revealed that he was also wanted as there was a warrant for his arrest. The male was held for a bail hearing on February 20th, 2019.

On February 20th, 2019 at 12:02 a.m., officers attended at a business on Front Street in relation to a woman passed out at a table. A 28-year-old Belleville woman was arrested for her own protection under the Liquor Licence Act. She was issued a provincial offence notice for being intoxicated in a public place.

Fraudulent Kijiji Ad

Belleville, Ontario – On February 19th, 2019 at 9:00 p.m., a person contacted police regarding a fraudulent Kijiji advertisement. It listed a home for rent on Lemoine Street. This person drove to the home, which was occupied and not for rent. People are reminded to not forward money to prospective owners until research has been completed on the property.

Intoxicated persons

Belleville, Ontario – On January 19th, 2019 at 11:38 p.m., officers responded to a report of an intoxicated male laying in a snowbank on Victoria Avenue at Ann Street. Paramedics were summoned as the 59-year old male had suffered frostbite. The male was transported to BGH for treatment.

On January 20th, 2019, at 12:55 a.m. officers attended at a disturbance call on Wallbridge-Loyalist Road. Two highly intoxicated individuals were arrested for their own protection under the Liquor Licence Act. The 25-year-old man and 39-year-old woman were both charged with being intoxicated in a common area.

On January 20th, 2019 at 2:20 a.m., police attended in a parking lot on North Front Street to assist paramedics. An intoxicated male was in medical distress. He was transported to BGH for treatment.
