Accidents
Belleville, Ontario – There were six accidents reported over the 24 hour period. Three were minor accidents, while the other three resulted in charges:
At 7:49 a.m., there was a two car accident on Sidney Street at Leland Drive. A 17 year old Belleville youth was charged with "failing to yield to traffic”.
At 9:46 a.m., there was a two car accident on Sidney Street at Tracey Street. One person suffered minor injuries but did not require medical attention. A 47 year old Belleville man was charged with "turn not in safety”. One of the vehicles was towed.
At 1:06 p.m., there was a two car accident on Victoria Avenue at Charles Street. An 18 year old Belleville woman was charged with” failing to stop at a stop sign”. Both cars had to be towed from the scene.
Intoxicated rider
Belleville, Ontario – On February 20th, 2013, at 3:30 p.m., Belleville Transit reported that a passenger was passed out on a City bus. Officers met the bus at the terminal and carried the slumbering man to a waiting cruiser. A 52 year old Belleville man was charged with public intoxication under the Liquor Licence Act.
Shoplifter
Belleville, Ontario – On February 20th, 2013, at 6:15 p.m., police responded to a north end business in relation a shoplifter. Store security had detained a woman after observing her concealing $200.00 worth of product in a shopping bag. The investigation revealed that the woman had provided a false name to police. A 41 year old Belleville woman was held for a bail hearing on charges of Theft under $5000.00, Obstruct Police, and Breach of Probation.
