Drugs

Belleville, Ontario – On the 19th of February 2015, members of the Belleville Police Service Drug Unit and the OPP Organized Crime Enforcement Bureau – Drug Enforcement Unit conducted a traffic stop in Belleville and subsequently executed 3 CDSA search warrants, two in Belleville and one in Quinte West.   

As a result of the search warrants, police seized cocaine which was individually packaged for sale, cannabis resin (hashish), marijuana, cell phones, a large amount of Canadian currency and a 2011 Ford pick-up truck. 

The following persons were charged as a result of the CDSA search warrants:

Calvin Hyderman - 58 years old from Quinte West was charged with:

  • Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking (Cocaine) S. 5(2) CDSA

  • Conspiracy to commit the Indictable Offence of Trafficking (cocaine)S. 465(1)(c) CC

  • Possession of Proceeds of Crime s 354(1)(a) CC

  • Possession of Marijuana S. 4(1) CDSA

     

    Kate French – 56 years old from Belleville was charged with:

    Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking (Cocaine) S. 5(2) CDSA

  • Conspiracy to commit the Indictable Offence of Trafficking (cocaine)S. 465(1)(c) CC

  • Possession of Marijuana S. 4(1) CDSA

     

    Ellen Abbott – 74 years old from Belleville was charged with:

    Possession of Cocaine S. 4(1) CDSA

  • Conspiracy to commit the Indictable Offence of Trafficking (cocaine)S. 465(1)(c) CC

  • Possession of Proceeds of Crime s 354(1)(a) CC

  • Possession of Marijuana S. 4(1) CDSA

     

    All three accused persons were released on a Promise to Appear and Officer in Charge undertaking with a 19th of March 2015 court date in Belleville.

     

    Impaired Driving and Refusal

    Belleville, Ontario – On February 20, 2015 at 3:13 am, police responded to a call of an accident involving a car and a taxicab in the drive through at a business on Northfront Street.  As a result of the investigation, the 35 year female driver of Belleville was arrested for Impaired Driving and subsequently charged with Impaired Driving and Refusal to Provide a Breath Sample.  She was later released with a court date in early March 2015.
