Police Pursuit

Belleville, Ontario – On February 19th, 2018, at 7:40 p.m. members of the Belleville Police Service had set up a R.I.D.E. program on Station St. at Farley Avenue. An officer detected a strong odour of marijuana in a pick-up truck and directed the driver to pull over to continue the drug investigation. At this point the truck accelerated away at a high rate of speed southbound on Farley Ave.  The truck failed to stop for other cruisers. Given the high speeds and the concern for public safety the pursuit was discontinued. The officers were able to conduct a follow-up as the licence plate number of the truck had been obtained. On February 20th, 2018, at 7:00 p.m. the driver surrendered to police. Cody Brant-Maracle, 24 years of age, of Deseronto, was charged with Flight from Police and Dangerous operation of a motor vehicle. He will appear in court on April 5th, 2018.


Traffic Stops

Belleville, Ontario – On February 20th, 2018, at 12:01 p.m. an officer stopped a car on Casey Road for speeding. A further check revealed that the driver was a suspended driver. In addition, a small amount of marijuana was seized. A 32-year-old Belleville man was charged with speeding (92 km/h in a posted 60 km/h zone) and driving while under suspension. He will appear in Traffic Court on March 5th, 2018.


On February 20th, 2018, at 1:42 p.m. an officer conducted a traffic stop on Bridge Street East. A machete was observed between the seats. The driver was banned from possessing any offensive weapons. He also had a knife in his waistband. During the arrest a quantity of cocaine and marijuana was seized. Daniel James Woodstock, 23 years of age, of Belleville, was charged with possession of cocaine and marijuana under the Controlled and Substances Act. He was also charged with two counts of breach of probation. He will appear in court on March 22nd, 2018.


Counterfeit money charges

Belleville, Ontario – On January 10th, 2018, police attended at a west end business in relation to counterfeit American currency that a group of people had used to make several purchases. Video surveillance was obtained and the names of the four people were eventually obtained. On February 18th, 2018, 32-year old Joshua Bow Larren Parks of no fixed address was arrested on outstanding warrants for assault x 2, uttering threats and breach of probation. He was also charged with two counts of using counterfeit money, two counts of possession of counterfeit money, and two counts of breach of probation. His bail hearing was put over to February 22nd, 2018. Charges are in the process of being filed against the remaining trio – two Belleville men and a Belleville woman.


Motor Vehicle Collisions

Belleville, Ontario – On February 20th, 2018, at 11:14 a.m. police attended on Bethel Road at Phillipston Road in relation to a two-car accident. Airbags had been deployed in both cars which were towed from the scene. One person sustained minor injuries. A 65-year old Stirling man was charged with “turn – not in safety”.

On February 20th, 2018, at 2:34 p.m. police attended on Old Hwy 2 in relation to a two-car accident. A 76-year-old Belleville man was charged with “unsafe lane change”. There were no injuries.


Breach of the Peace

Belleville, Ontario – On February 20th, 2018, at 7:35 p.m. police attended at a residence in Foxboro to assist an ambulance crew with a combative woman. Once on scene the woman attempted to kick one of the police officers. The 32-year-old woman was arrested to prevent a further breach of the peace. Alcohol was a factor in this incident. No charges arising.
