Theft from M/V - Arrested

Belleville, Ontario ? On January 21, 2010, at 11:15 a.m., a male was observed the parking lot of Pizza Hut on North Front Street stealing from a parked vehicle. The suspect reached in through a smashed window and removed a duffel bag. He then left westbound through yards of homes in the area. The suspect was seen turning his coat inside out in as he was leaving the area. The suspect was arrested by police on College Street West.

A 43 year old Belleville man was charged with one count each of Theft, Mischief and Fail to Comply with Undertaking. He is currently in custody for a Bail Hearing schedule on January 22, 2010.

Break & Enter

Belleville, Ontario ? On January 21, 2010, at 9:00 a.m., a home owner on Palmer Road came home to find a male in his basement. On seeing the homeowner the suspect fled from the house and was last seen running west toward Sir James Whitney School. With the assistance of the Canine Unit the area was searched for approximately two hours however the suspect was able evade detection. The suspect is described as male, thin build, with some gray in his hair, a gaunt face, wearing a black bomber jacket with white writing on the back, a toque and blue jeans. Nothing was taken from the home and this incident is still under investigation.

Theft

Belleville, Ontario ? On January 21, 2010, at 8:45 p.m., two males entered a store on Bell Blvd and walked out with nine Sony Play Stations - Portables Go Systems valued at $249.99 each. One suspect is an Asian male in his twenties and the other is a French speaking male in his twenties. Both suspects concealed these items in their coats and theft the store without making any attempt to pay for them.

Alarm / Dangerous Driving

Belleville, Ontario ? On January 21, 2010 at 2:00 a.m., officers responded to an alarm at a Front Street business. On arrival police found that a vehicle had crashed through the front of the building at Edible Arrangements. Reports from witnesses indicated a man had fled the scene.The Belleville Police Service K9 unit also responded to the scene. A33 year old Belleville male was taken into custody in the Mary St area. He was arrested and charged with Possession of Stolen Property, Breach of Probation, Dangerous Operation of a Motor vehicle, Theft, and Drive While Prohibited. He was released on a Promise to Appear with a court date in February 2010.

There were no injuries however there was extensive damage to the building. The investigation continues.
