The Belleville Police Service would like to remind Belleville residents that during the scheduled power outage on May 31st additional resources and staffing will be brought in to ensure the safety and security of the community. With that in mind we have several recommendations that will ease the burden on emergency services and ensure everyone’s safety.
- If at all possible, remain at your residence or place of business during the outage. The less vehicle and pedestrian traffic there is, the better.
- Please refrain from reporting any non-emergency calls to the Belleville Police Service until after the power is activated.
- If your home or business has a security alarm please contact your provider and advise them before the date in question and arrange for them to contact you in the event of an alarm before dispatching police. This will reduce any false alarms received by police when the power is activated.
- If you can’t avoid driving please do so using extreme caution as any light systems on the roadways will not be functioning. Treat all intersections where the lights are not working properly as a four way stop. Some major intersections may have officers positioned nearby in order to assist with traffic control.
