The Belleville Police Service responded to 73 calls for service between March 20th, 2019 at 5:00 a.m. and March 21st, 2019 at 5:00 a.m.

Teen detained in school incident

Belleville, Ontario – On March 20th 2019, at 11:50 a.m., police attended at an elementary school in the City’s north end. A teenager, armed with a knife, had barricaded himself in one of the rooms. Officers took the youth into custody without incident. No one was injured. The school was in a lockdown until the situation was resolved. The 13-year-old youth will be placed in a youth diversion program in lieu of charges.

Missing man located

Belleville, Ontario – On March 20th 2019, at 8:30 a.m., police located the missing person Matthew Weeks in the City’s west end. No further police action was required.

Traffic Enforcement

Belleville, Ontario – On March 20th 2019, at 10:33 p.m., an officer conducted a traffic stop on Station Street.  A check on the 31-year-old driver revealed that he was a suspended driver. The car was subject to a 7-day impoundment. The male was charged with driving while under suspension and will appear in traffic court on May 6th, 2019.

Couple arrested

Belleville, Ontario – On March 21st 2019, at 2:44 a.m., an officer on patrol observed a couple attempting to cross North Front St. at Valleyview Cres. The male was attempting to support the woman who was highly intoxicated. A check on the 25-year-old man revealed that he was on conditions not to have any contact with the woman he was with. He was arrested at this point. The 25-year old woman was arrested for her own protection under the Liquor Licence Act. She was charged with being intoxicated in a public place and was issued a provincial offence notice. The male was charged with breach of probation and will appear in court on April 18th, 2019.
