Project Longarm Drug Warrants Executed
On the 22nd of April 2009 members of Project Longarm, The Provincial Weapons Enforcement Unit, Belleville Emergency Response Unit, K9 Services and uniform members of the Belleville Police executed two CDSA search warrants and a high risk vehicle stop.
The search warrants are the culmination of a month long investigation into crack cocaine trafficking from the Greater Toronto area. The CDSA search warrants were executed simultaneously at 66 Catherine Street and 245 Bridge Street West resulting in 3 arrests. As a result of the residential search warrants cash, crack cocaine, weigh scales and 19 marijuana plants were seized.
Two adult males and an adult female from Belleville where arrested as a result of the search warrants. The two adult males where charged with Production of Marijuana and Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking (Cocaine) the female was released unconditionally.
Shortly after the search warrants were executed, a high risk vehicle stop was executed in the city?s east end directly related to the investigation. Seized from the vehicle was crack cocaine, cash and weigh scales. An adult male from the Greater Toronto are and an adult female from Belleville were arrested and both held for a Bail Hearing on the 23d of April 2009. Both are charged with Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking (Cocaine).
The investigation in ongoing and Police anticipate further drug and firearms charges to be forth coming.
