Stunt Driving Belleville, Ontario

 

 Officers with the Belleville Police Service conducted a traffic blitz on April 21st which resulted in 33 Provincial Offences Notices for various Highway Traffic Act violations being issued to area motorists. In addition, a vehicle was clocked on radar travelling northbound on North Front Street near Tracey Street travelling at 112 km/hr in a 50 km/hr zone. The vehicle was stopped at Millennium Drive and Highway #62. The driver had his licence automatically suspended for seven days and his vehicle was impounded for the same time period. A 50 year old Belleville man has been charged with Stunt Driving and was released at the scene on a summons with a court date of May 26th.

 

Assault With a Weapon Belleville, Ontario

 

 At approximately 5:15 pm on April 21st police were called to the area of Dundas Street East and Bradgate Road to investigate a report of an assault. Upon arrival officers found that three people had been walking eastbound on Dundas Street and a vehicle driven by a male who was known to them drove by. The vehicle did a u-turn and a verbal confrontation between the driver, his female passenger, and the pedestrians ensued. The male exited the vehicle and struck a male pedestrian with a tire iron while the female passenger exited and punched a female pedestrian several times in the face. They quickly fled from the scene when they found that police had been called. Paramedics and police arrived a short time later and the two victims were treated at the scene for minor injuries. As the officers were about to leave the scene the two suspects drove by and were subsequently pulled over, arrested, and transported to the Belleville Police Service. April Lawes-Bell, 26, of Belleville was charged with one count of assault and later released on a Promise to Appear. A 24 year old Belleville man was charged with one count of Assault With a Weapon. He has been held for a bail hearing on April 22, 2014.
