Robbery – Belleville, Ontario
At approximately 2:28 am on February 22, 2013 officers responded to an armed robbery call at a Cannifton Road business. A lone male had entered the business and brandished a weapon when confronting the clerk. He made off with a small amount of cash and fled in a vehicle from the scene. A description of the male and the suspect vehicle was passed on to other officers and a short time later it was discovered on Airport Parkway. It was followed as it travelled eastbound and was eventually stopped on Highway #49 near the Skyway Bridge with the assistance of the Tyendinaga Police Service and the O.P.P. A 21 year old Belleville man was arrested at the scene and transported back to the Belleville Police Service. He has been held for a Bail Hearing on February 22nd and faces charges of Robbery, Using a Firearm in the Commission of an Offence, Wearing a Disguise While Committing an Offence, and Pointing a Firearm. The clerk was not physically harmed as a result of the incident and all of the stolen money was recovered.
