Break and Enter

Belleville, Ontario – On January 21st, 2014 at 5:45 p.m. police attended at a James St residence in relation to a break and enter. Unknown person(s) removed jewelry, coins and sunglasses from the residence. The investigation is continuing. Anyone with information can contact Cst. M. Accidents

Belleville, Ontario – On January 21st, 2014 police responded to 9 accidents during the day. Seven of the accidents were minor in nature.

At 9:01 a.m. police responded to a two-car accident at the intersection of Sidney St. and Bridge St. Both cars sustained heavy damage and had to be towed. There were no injuries, and the investigation is continuing.

At 1:50 p.m. police responded to a two-car accident in the intersection of Church St. and Victoria Ave. EMS attended to treat a passenger for minor injuries in one of the vehicles. An 82 year old man was charged with failing to yield.

Fraud

Belleville, Ontario –On January 21st, 2014 at 7:00 p.m. an individual attended at the station to report a potential fraud. She had purchased a new Iphone 5S through an ad on Kijiji. She met the seller in the east end. This phone was later confirmed as a "clone phone”. This phone also came with a wooden case and all of the accessories and at a glance appears genuine. This is the second reported case as an individual was defrauded in December. Police are urging potential buyers to at least verify the authenticity through a reputable source before completing any private sale.

Arrest on warrants

Belleville, Ontario –On January 21st, 2014, at 2:25 p.m. an officer on patrol recognized a woman wanted on outstanding warrants on Harvey St. A 53 year old Belleville woman was arrested and released with a courtdate of February 20th. Her charges include theft X 2, fraud, and use a stolen credit card.

On January 21st, 2014, at 4:00 p.m. police attended at a Millenium Drive business in relation to an unruly shoplifter. A 33 year old Belleville woman was charged with Theft under $5000. She will appear in court on February 20th.

On January 22nd, 2014, at 4:10 a.m. police attended at a north end restaurant in relation to a male passed out at table. A 37 year old Trenton man was arrested for his own protection under the Liquor Licence Act.

Mischief

Belleville, Ontario – On January 21st, 2014, at 11:30 p.m. police attended at a disturbance at an apartment building on Sidney St. It was learned that a male had used a hammer to damage a neighbour's door. A 30 year old Belleville man was arrested and charged with mischief to property and weapons dangerous. He will appear in court on February 27th. Alcohol was a factor in this incident.
