CDSA Search Warrant
Belleville, Ont. - On the 22nd of May 2009 members of Project Longarm, the Provincial Weapons Enforcement Unit (PWEU), ERT Emergency Response Team and Belleville Canine Services executed a CDSA and Criminal Code search warrant in the City?s West end Friday afternoon.
As a result of a combined investigation, four adult males from Belleville, 1 adult male from Kingston and 1 adult female from Carrying Place have been arrested. The six have been charged jointly with the following offences:
1. Production of Marijuana s 7 Controlled Drugs and Substances Act
2. Possession for the Purpose of a Schedule I Substance (Methamphetamine) Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.
3. Possession for the Purpose of a Schedule I Substance (Marijuana) s 5(2) Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.
4. Possession of Property Obtained by Crime s 354(1) (a) of the Criminal Code.
Seized from the residence where the following items:
Approximately 1010 marijuana plants with a street value of $ 200,000.
$2500 to $3000 in cash.
$74,000 of Crystal Methamphetamine.
All of the six arrested people have been held for a Show Cause Hearing. The investigation is ongoing and police anticipate laying further charges.
Drugs
Belleville, Ont. - On May 22, 2009, at 3:15 p.m., a 34 year old Prince Edward County male turned himself in on outstanding warrants at the courthouse. This was suspicious as this was a Friday afternoon and the Bail Court had just finished. The male would have to spend the weekend in jail. At that time Officers suspected this male was planning to smuggle contraband into the jail.Once at the police headquarters the male was searched. Officers located the following;
  • 8 grams of marijuana
  • 26 tablets of Oxycodone (a narcotic)
  • a plastic bag of tobacco
This accused now faces two additional counts of Possession of a Narcotic for the Purpose of Trafficking. There were five warrants for his arrest totaling 11 charges. He will appear in bail court on Mon. May 25th.
