Motor Vehicle Collision ? Bethel Road (Update)
Belleville, Ont. ? On October 5, 2009 at 4:16 p.m., police responded to a motor vehicle collision on Bethel Rd in Thurlow Township. Three children ages 3, 8 and 11 were struck by a vehicle while getting off their school bus. All three of the children were injured as a result of this accident with one child being transported to Kingston General Hospital. Members of the Criminal Investigation Division and a Collision Reconstructionist were assigned to investigate this collision. The investigation has determined that excessive speed was a primary factor in the sequence of events leading up to this collision.
On October 21, 2009, a 17 year old Thurlow Township youth was arrested and charged with three counts each of Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle Causing Bodily Harm. He has been released on an Officer in Charge Undertaking with one of the conditions being not to operate a motor vehicle. He will appear in court in November 2009. The name of the youth will not be released due to the provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
Since this collision the youths struck by the vehicle have been released from the hospital.
Belleville, Ont. ? On October 22, 2009, police received two separate reports of Stolen Vehicles. The first stolen vehicle was reported at 1:00 a.m., and was taken from a Dundas Street East business parking lot. Stolen was a 1995, Dodge, Pick Up 4x4, red & Silver, with plate # 2486NL.
A second vehicle was reported stolen at 5:40 a.m., from a Sidney Street address. The vehicle is believed to have been stolen sometime after 9:30 p.m., last evening. The vehicle is a 1992, GMC pick up, black in colour with plate # 975CY. The vehicle has new tires, chrome rims and was newly painted.
Break & Enter & Theft of Motor Vehicle
Belleville, Ont., - On October 22, 2009, at 5:15 a.m., police responded to a Break & Enter at a grocery store north of the city. The property owner arrived at this location and found an abandoned vehicle in his parking lot with both vehicle doors open and the motor running. On closer inspection he found that the front door window of his business had been smashed. Police arrived and searched the building however suspects had fled the scene. A box of lottery tickets had been stolen from the store. Further investigation revealed the vehicle that was found at the scene had been stolen from a Tracey Park Drive residence. The vehicle owner claims the black Dodge caravan was stolen sometime after 5:00 p.m., the night before.
This Break & Enter and Theft of Motor Vehicle are currently under investigation.

Belleville, Ont., - On October 22, 2009, at 8:50 a.m., a home owner on Old Madoc Road reported someone had entered his garage overnight and stole an ATV and a Dirt Bike. Entry was made sometime after 11:00 p.m. the night before and it appears suspects pushed both vehicles through the garage door to an area where they were loaded onto an awaiting vehicle.
A black and red, ATV - QUAD - Honda 400, with plate # 53RP8 was stolen as well as a 2003 Yamaha250, dirt bike. There was no plate on the dirt bike.

Belleville, Ont., - On October 22, 2009, at 1:30 p.m., a resident on Kensington Cres came home to find his house had been entered sometime this date after 8:00 a.m. It appears thieves may have been scared off as nothing was taken from the residence.
Belleville, Ont., - On October 22, 2009, at 3:45 p.m., a homeowner on Russell Street reported sometime between 3:00 p.m., and 3:45 p.m., this date someone broke into her home and stole a computer and an IPOD.
Belleville, Ont., - On October 22, 2009, at 5:00 p.m., a homeowner on Wallbridge Loyalist Road came home to find someone had kicked in his front door. Entry was gained sometime after 9:45 a.m. Thieves stole a lap top.
Recovered Stolen Vehicle
Belleville, Ont., - On October 22, 2009, police recovered a vehicle that had been reported stolen from a Dundas Street East business on October 21, 2009. The vehicle was found in a field 200 meters east of Haig Road. The vehicle is a 1995 Dodge pick up, red in colour with plate # 2486NL.
On October 22, 2009, at 8:20 p.m., police were dispatched to North Front Street with a report of an Impaired Driver in a fast food restaurant parking lot. Police located the vehicle being driven by a 25 year old Port Hope male. He was arrested and subsequently charged with Impaired Operation of a Motor Vehicle and Over 80 mgs. He was released on a Promise to Appear with a November court date.
On October 22, 2009, at 10:37 p.m., Police stopped a vehicle on Station Street and found the driver to be impaired. A 29 year old Belleville male was arrested and charged with Impaired Operation of a Motor Vehicle and Over 80 mgs. He was released on a Promise to Appear with a November court date.
