OntarioDistracted Driving Campaign
Belleville, Ontario ? September 12 ? 18, 2011 was designated as Ontario's Distracted Driving Campaign.
Belleville Police Service in partnership with the Quinte Region Traffic Coalition focused on enforcing Ontario's distracted driving and aggressive driving laws throughout the week.
Members issued 82 offence notices throughout the campaign with the focus in Belleville being cell phone violations.
The fine for talking on a cell phone or texting while driving is $155, while watching an entertainment device while behind the wheel carries a fine of $110.
Canadian Law Enforcement and Fire Games
Belleville Police Service Sergeant Brad Lentini captured first place in his division and a first place finish overall at the Canadian Law Enforcement and Fire Games held last weekend at the Harbour Fitness Club.
Sgt Lentini competed in the male, 40 ? 44 years power lifting event and combined a 500lb squat with a 525lb bench-press (new Canadian Powerlifting Federation "open? record), and a 475lb dead-lift for a 3-lift total of 1,500lbs.
The Belleville Police Association sponsored Sgt Lentini. All proceeds from the event are going to the fight against ALS.
