Attempted Fraud Belleville, Ontario.


 At approximately 6:10 pm on September 20, 2014 a Belleville resident contacted police to report an attempted fraud. The complainant stated that she received a phone call at home from a male indicating that he was soliciting funds on behalf of the Canadian Police Association as part of their anti-bullying campaign. The complainant was asked to provide either a Master Card or Visa number and when she asked for correspondence to be sent to her home the caller simply hung up. The public is reminded to never give out any personal information over the phone and that any legitimate agency  asking for donations will be able to send documentation through the mail for the resident to examine prior to donating any funds.


Impaired Driver Belleville, Ontario


 At approximately 10:55 pm on September 20, 2014 an off duty officer called police to report an erratic driver travelling on Dundas Street East near Albert Street. The female driver pulled over and was arrested for impaired driving. On duty officers arrived a short time later and took over the arrest, transporting the female to the Belleville Police Service. She subsequently failed a Breathalyzer test at the BPS headquarters. Danielle Smith, 33, of Trenton faces charges of Impaired Driving and Over 80MG. She was later released on a Promise to Appear with a court date of October 9, 2014.


Drugs Belleville, Ontario


 At approximately 11:10 pm on September 20, 2014 an officer on routine patrol stopped a bicyclist in the Pinnacle Street / Market Street area of the city for a Highway Traffic Act infraction. A subsequent investigation led to the arrest of the male and the discovery of a quantity of marijuana on his person. He was arrested at the scene and transported to the Belleville Police Service. Michael Istead, 30, of Belleville was charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance and two counts of Breach of Probation. He was later released on a Promise to Appear with a court date of October 9, 2014.
