Sexual Assault

Belleville, Ontario – The Belleville Police Service received a complaint from an adult female alleging that a sexual assault had occurred in the early morning hours of January 22nd, 2014.

On January 22nd, 2014, at 10:25 a.m., as a result of an investigation by the Criminal Investigation Branch, an 18 year old Belleville man was arrested. The accused is known to the victim. The accused will appear in court on February 27th, 2014 on a charge of sexual assault.

Accidents

Belleville, Ontario – On January 22nd, 2014 police attended at 6 accident scenes throughout the City. Three were deemed to be minor accidents.

At 7:47 a.m. police investigated a three-car accident on the Bridge St. bridge in the downtown core. There were no charges given the icy road conditions at the time of the accident.

At 9:09 a.m. police investigated a two-car accident on Cannifton Road. One of the vehicles was towed from the scene. This investigation is continuing.

At 6:32 p.m. police investigated a two-car accident on Pinnacle St. at Bridge St. East. Both cars had to be towed from the scene and there were no injuries. A 63 year old Belleville man was charged with failing to stop at a red light.

Breach of probation

Belleville, Ontario –On January 22nd, 2014, at 6:35 a.m. a homeowner reported that a male was banging on her front door. This male was bound by a condition of a probation order not to have any contact with homeowner; nor was he to be near her residence. A 19 year old Trenton man was arrested for two counts of breach of probation. He was held for a bail hearing later in the day at which time he was denied bail.

Drug charges

Belleville, Ontario –On January 22nd, 2014, at 10:20 a.m. police attended at a local high school in relation to a concern by school officials that drugs were being sold in one of the washrooms. As a result of an investigation, two male students were arrested. One youth was 14 years old, and the other was 18 years of age. Officers seized 35 grams of marijuana, two cell phones, and a quantity of cash. Both males were charged with possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking. The youth will appear in Youth Court on February 25th, while the 18 year old will appear in court on February 27th.

Break and enter

Belleville, Ontario – On January 22nd, 2014, at 3:20 p.m. police attended at a George Street residence in relation to a reported break and enter. Sometime between 8:15 a.m. and 3:15 p.m. (on Jan. 22nd) unknown persons entered the residence and removed a laptop, jewelry and tools. The laptop is described as an Acer Aspire which is black in colour. The investigation is continuing.
