Accidents
Belleville, Ontario Police responded to 9 accidents during this time frame. Five of the accidents resulted in minor property damage, while injuries were sustained in the other four accidents.
On August 23rd, 2013, at 9:37 a.m., police, fire and ambulance attended at the intersection of Dundas Street East at Pinnacle Street. Minor injuries were reported, and the investigation is continuing.
At 4:36 p.m., police responded to a two car accident on Bell Blvd. in front of Staples. The drivers were treated for minor injuries, and both vehicles were towed from the scene. One motorist was charged with failing to yield to traffic.
At 5:47 p.m. police responded to a single vehicle accident at the south end of Farley Avenue. It was learned that a historic vehicle a 1945 Ford pick-up truck was southbound on Farley Ave. from Bridge St. East. The throttle was stuck open as the truck approached Dundas St. East. The truck narrowly missed a pedestrian as it crossed all four lanes of Dundas Street. It continued south on South Farley and crashed through a fence. It continued over the CP tracks before striking several trees. Two occupants were taken to Quinte Health Care by EMS. The driver was transferred to Kingston General Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The truck was demolished. The investigation is continuing.
At 8:33 p.m. police responded to an accident involving a car and a cyclist at Bridge St. E. at Williams St.. The cyclist suffered minor injuries after striking a curb and falling to the ground. This investigation is continuing.
Shoplifter
Belleville, Ontario On August 23rd, 2013, at 8:21 p.m., police attended at an east end grocery store. 50 year old William McQuaid of Belleville was charged with theft under $5000.00. He will appear in court on Sept. 19th, 2013.
Arrested on Warrants
Belleville, Ontario On August 23rd, 2013, at 9:50 p.m., an officer on patrol recognized a male who was wanted on outstanding warrants. A 32 year old Belleville man was arrested and held for a Bail Hearing.
Intoxicated person
Belleville, Ontario On August 23rd, 2013, at 10:26 p.m., police responded to a William St. residence as a male was passed out on the front lawn. A 57 year old Deseronto man was arrested for his own protection under the Liquor Licence Act.
