Assault with a Weapon/ Forcible Confinement

Belleville, Ontario On October 23rd, 2012, at 8:15 p.m., Police initially attended on St. Charles St. in relation to an accident as a car had struck a woman. It was revealed that the woman had been fleeing a violent encounter nearby with a man. The woman advised Police that earlier in the evening she had an argument with her common-law partner. At one point he shoved her into a closet and barricaded the door with a sofa. After freeing herself from the closet, the woman ran out of the residence. The man grabbed her by the hair and punched her in the head. As she ran to the roadway, the male threw a piece of wood which struck her in the head. At this point she was struck by the passing car. She received minor injuries from the car accident and the assaults.

A 40 year old Belleville man was arrested and held for Bail on the following charges: Forcible Confinement, Assault, Assault with a weapon, and Breach of probation.
