Accidents

 

Belleville, Ontario – On September 23rd, 2014, at 11:40 a.m. police attended on College Street West west of North Front Street in relation to a two-car accident. EMS attended to treat one of the drivers for minor injuries. One of the drivers was charged with "failing to yield to traffic”.  Both cars were towed from the scene.

 

On September 23rd, 2014, at 8:12 p.m. police attended at the intersection of Sidney Street and College Street West in relation to a two-car accident.  One of the drivers was charged with "unsafe lane change”.  No one was injured .

 

 

Traffic Concern

 

Belleville, Ontario – Belleville Police are reminding motorists that Hwy 2 between Haig Rd. in the east end to the eastern city limits is a posted 60 km/h zone. This is as a result of ongoing construction.

 

 

Fraud charges

 

Belleville, Ontario – On September 23rd, 2014, at 12:50 p.m. police attended in the Karl Street area in relation to a male going door to door fraudulently collecting funds for a charity. A 28 year old male was charged with fraud under $5000.00 and breach of an undertaking.  He had been banned from soliciting which led to the breach charge. He was held for a bail hearing on September 24th, 2014.

 

 

Assault/Mischief charges

 

Belleville, Ontario – On September 23rd, 2014, at 1:30 p.m. police attended at Loyalist College in relation to a complaint of an assault.  It was learned that a teacher was the subject of an unprovoked attack in a classroom by a student.  The student lunged at the teacher and tackled him to the ground. The teacher suffered minor injuries. Two computers were damaged during the assault.  21 year old David Jock of Tyendinaga was charged with assault and mischief to property. He will appear in court on November 6th, 2014.

 

 

Intoxicated male

 

Belleville, Ontario – On September 23rd, 2014, at 6:00 p.m. police attended on Alhambra Square near the railroad tracks in relation to an intoxicated male.  The caller was concerned that the trains were due to pass through.  A 48 year old Belleville man was arrested for his own protection under the Liquor Licence Act.

 

 

Break and Enter

 

Belleville, Ontario – On September 23rd, 2014, at 7:15 p.m. police attended on Foster Avenue in relation to a break and enter.  The residence was entered sometime between 7:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. Taken were 2 ACER laptops.  The investigation is continuing.

 

 

Criminal Harassment

 

Belleville, Ontario – On September 23rd, 2014, at 10:00 p.m. police arrested a 56 year old Belleville man on a charge of criminal harassment.  The accused had been previously warned not to have any contact with his ex-partner.  The accused was released with a court date of October 20th, 2014. His name was withheld to protect the identity of the victim.
