Arrest on Warrants
Belleville, Ont -   On the 25th of February 2009, at 12:30 a.m. members with the Hastings Children?s Aid Society attended at BPS in relation to a newborn baby that was deemed to be ?in need of protection?.  It was learned that a mother had just departed Quinte Health Care with her premature newborn.  The three-day old girl was tracked down in the City?s east end by CAS and Police.  The baby was escorted back to the hospital.


However, during the investigation, it was learned that the new father had warrants for his arrest.  A 22 year old Belleville man was taken into custody and held for a Bail hearing on Feb. 25th, 2009.



Roadside refusal

Belleville, Ont -  On 25 February 2009 at 12:45 a.m., a motorist was stopped in the City?s north end.  This driver had been drinking and was requested to provide a roadside breath sample.  The driver elected not to give a sample and was arrested for failing to provide a breath sample into an approved screening device. This 22 year old Marmora man was given an April courtdate.  His driver?s licence was automatically suspended for 90 days, and his vehicle was towed.


 Recovered stolen Neons

Belleville, Ont., - In the early morning hours on Feb. 24th, three Dodge Neons were stolen in Belleville.  Officers on patrol overnight recovered two of these Neons abandoned in the City?s west end.  The third Neon is still outstanding: 1995 Dodge Neon black in colour ? plate # BEWF 209.

Belleville, Ont., - On 25 February 2009 at 6:45 p.m., Police attended on Elmwood Drive in relation to an abandoned Dodge Neon.  An investigation revealed that this vehicle had been stolen from Hamilton on February 19th, 2009.  Investigation is continuing.

Traffic Stop with a Dodge Neon

Belleville, Ont., - On February 25 2009 at 7:15 p.m., an Officer on patrol in the City?s east end queried a Dodge Neon on Dundas St. East.  This Neon had improper plates on it and was stopped.  The vehicle was not stolen, but the 28 year old Picton woman who was driving received three traffic summons for Court for the following offences:


(a)    use plates not authorized for vehicle

(b)    fail to produce a permit

(c)     fail to produce an insurance card


The car was towed.
