Break and Enters

Belleville, Ontario - On the 25th of July 2009, a break-in to a business in the north end of the city netted thieves a number of car batteries and a box of chocolate bars.  An investigation is continuing.


A second break, enter, and theft was reported to police at approximately 10:30 am on Saturday morning.  A business in the north end of the city was the victim of a ?smash n? grab? type of theft.  Entry was gained after thieves broke through the front door of the business and made off with several thousands of dollars worth of hydroponic growing equipment including lights, bulbs, and nutrients.  This investigation is continuing.


Belleville, Ontario - On the 25th of July 2009, an automobile business in the west end of the city was targeted for vandalism during the night.  An employee opening business for the day found four vehicles which had been broken into.  Police seized property from the vehicles which will be examined by the forensic identification unit.  The investigation is continuing.

Domestic Assaults 

Belleville, Ontario - On the 25th of July 2009, at approximately 11:00am, Police responded to a report of a disturbance between a city man and woman at an east end city resdience.  An investigation revealed that the 25-year old Belleville man was wanted on an arrest warrant for Uttering Threats which was held by the Waterloo Regional Police Service.  Further, this  same man was also arrested by Belleville Police at this location on a charge of Domestic Assault.  He was given a court date for later this summer in Belleville court.  The man, whose identity will not be released in order to protect the identity of the victim, was then picked up by the Waterloo Regional Police Service and transported back to their Region to answer to their charge on the warrant.


Shortly there after at approximatley 1:00 pm, a report of a second domestic assault led police to the arrest of a 41 year-old Belleville man. The man, whose identity is being withheld to protect the identity of the victim, is being charged with one count of Assault.  He was released on an Officer-In-Charge Undertaking with strict conditions, and a Promise to Appear in court in August of 2009.


 A third domestic disturbance occurred just after 1:30 pm in the Tracey Park Drive area.  A woman called police reporting that she had fled her home to call for assistance, and that her male partner had assaulted her and had caused some damage in the home.  A 24 year old Quinte West man was arrested and charged with one count of Domestic Mischief and Domestic Assault.  His name is not being released in order to protect the identity of the victim.  He was released on an Officer-In-Charge Undertaking and a Promise to Appear in court August 2009.

Suspicious Vehicle

Belleville, Ontario  - A routine stop by a traffic enforcement officer resulted in the seizure of a motor vehicle.  The traffic stop, which occurred in the North Front Street and Bell Boulevard area revealed that the suspected motor vehicle had two different ?Vehicle Identification Numbers? on it.  The vehicle was seized into police custody and it will be turned over to the Ontario Provincial Police Automobile Theft Squad for further investigation.

Assault with Weapon 

Belleville, Ontario - On the 25th of July 2009 at approximately 2:00 pm, Police responded to 9-1-1 calls about a group of 4 to 6 men chasing and beating another man with baseball bats in the Church Street and Victoria Avenue area. Upon police arrival the suspects had fled from the area.  The victim was not seriously harmed and was arrested himself for an undisclosed offence.  He was transported to the Belleville Police Service where he was held in custody until his release later in the day.  The investigation is continuing.


Police responded to a total of 30 calls in the preceding twelve hours including minor motor vehicle collisions, traffic complaints, general assistance calls, alarms, and a dog attack, in which a man was bitten in the south George St area.  This call is currently under investigation as well.             


Motor Vehicle Collision
Belleville, On ? On 25 July 2009 at approximately 5:45 pm, police responded to a motor vehicle collision on Sidney Street near Highway 401.  None of the parties involved were injured. As a result of an investigation a 29 yr old Belleville man was arrested and charged with refusing to give a breath sample to test for blood alcohol concentration. The male was also charged with taking a motor vehicle without consent and driving under suspension. He will appear in court in September 2009.

Belleville, On ? On the 25th of July 2009 at 11:00 pm a 16 yr old boy was walking in the area of Front Street and Dundas Street where he encountered  a male and a female. The male pushed the teenager and demanded that the boy empty his pockets. The boy had an undisclosed amount of money that he turned over to the male assailant. The suspect was described as male, white, approximately 20 years of age, 5?5?, medium build wearing a hat, back pack and shorts. The female was described as taller, with blonde hair pulled back into a pony tail wearing a pink shirt. Anyone with information is asked to contact police.

Belleville, On ? On the 26th of July 2009 at approximately 3:00 am, Police and the Belleville Fire Department responded to a fire on Dundas Street West.  The trailer fire has been deemed as suspicous and the investigation is currently ongoing.
