Sudden Death

Belleville, Ontario ? On 18 August, 2011 at 10:00 a.m., police attended at a Catherine Street residence in response to a report of a sudden death of a 47 year old male. All sudden death investigations are treated as suspicious until the investigation proves otherwise. This is considered to be best practice to reduce or eliminate the potential loss of anything that could be of evidentiary value.

A post mortem was conducted on 20 July, 2011 and the results may not be available for 10 to 12 weeks.

Theft of Bicycle

Belleville, Ontario ? On 23 August, 2011 at 3:29 p.m., a ladies 21 speed Schwinn Aphrodite bicycle, and silver in colour was stolen from the area in front of 237 Front Street.

There were two males observed to be involved in the theft:

  • 1st male: male earlier to mid twenties, short dark hair, wearing a black dress shirt and blue jeans.
  • 2nd male:on a bicycle was described as being in his forties with a completely bald head, he was wearing what appeared to be a bright blue cooler backpack

It is believe that after stealing the bicycle the pair travelled northbound to the Empire Square.

Belleville Police are asking that anyone that has any information that may assist in identifying the males involved in this theft to contact Belleville police Service at 613 966- 0882 or call Crime Stoppers at 613 969-8477.

Break and Enter

Belleville, Ontario ? On 24 August, 2011 at 6:33 p.m., police attended at a residence on Spruce Gardens in response to a report of a break and enter. It was reported that the break and enter occurred between 12:00 and 5:00 p.m. with the culprits gaining entry via a window. It was reported that money and jewelry were stolen. This investigation is on going.

Assault

Belleville, Ontario ? On 25 August, 2011 at 1:21 a.m., police attended at a residence on North Park Street in response to a complaint of a disturbance.

Investigation of this complaint resulted in the arrest of a 40 year old Belleville man for one count of Assault, and 3 counts of Failure to Comply with an Undertaking. There were no injuries reported as a result of this incident. This male will appear for a bail hearing on 25 August, 2011 at 1:00 p.m...
