Belleville Police responded to 78 calls for service between 0500 hrs. on 24 Aug 2019 and 25 Aug 2019 0500 hrs.

Domestic Assault

Belleville, Ont - On the 24th of August 2019 at 6 p.m., an officer was off duty in a parking lot of a Bell Blvd business. He observed a couple in a domestic dispute. He then observed the male slap the female in the face. At that time he detained the male and called on duty officers who continued the arrest. An eighteen-year-old Belleville male was charged with one count of assault. He was released on a promise to appear with a court date in September.

Theft

Belleville, Ont - On the 24th of August 2019 at 3:30 p.m., officers attended a business on Dundas St E in Belleville with regard to a male shoplifter. The male became unruly with staff and police were called. After further investigation, Adam Clapp, a 31-year-old from Belleville, was charged with theft under 5000 dollars. He was released on an appearance notice with a court date in September.

Disturbance

 

Belleville, Ont - On the 25th of August 2019 at 4:00 a.m., officers attended an apartment on Wellington Cres with regard to a male causing problems. Upon arrival, police received information from an elderly lady that her son had been drinking and smashed some of her belongings. As a result, a 57 year-old Belleville man was arrested for breach of the peace. He was released unconditionally.
