Car flips onto tracks


Belleville, Ontario On January 25th, 2015, at 12:06 a.m. police attended on West Moira Street at Wallbridge-Loyalist Road in relation to a car that had flipped onto its side across the tracks.  The trains in the area were stopped and Belleville Fire Dept. attended regarding the fuel spill. The vehicle had been travelling north on Wallbridge-Loyalist Road approaching the stop sign at West Moira Street. The vehicle was unoccupied and officers followed the footprints in the snow. Police also received a phone call from the owner of the car who reported his car stolen. The owner was located nearby sporting minor injuries with cuts to his hands and legs.  He was arrested for public mischief.  The footprints led to the discovery of the three passengers who were assessed for injuries.  Their injuries were minor. A 20 year old Codrington man was charged with public mischief, obstruct police, careless driving, fail to remain at the scene of an accident, and novice driver with a blood alcohol level above zero.  He will appear in court on March 5th, 2015. There was no damage to the tracks.



Accident with injuries


Belleville, Ontario On January 24th, 2015, at 1:20 p.m. police attended on College Street West at Village Drive in relation to a two-car accident. Two passengers in one vehicle were transported to Quinte Health Care by EMS with minor injuries. Belleville Fire Department also assisted at the scene.  Both vehicles were towed.  A 73 year old Belleville man was charged with failing to yield to traffic.



RIDE Program


Belleville, Ontario On January 24th, 2015, a RIDE Team set up several checkpoints throughout the City. 160 cars were checked. There were no charges arising from these checks.
