Assault with Intent to Resist and Escape Lawful Custody

Belleville, Ontario ? On 25 October, 2011 at 9:00 p.m., police attended at a business in Quinte Mall in response to a complaint of a male and female involved in a theft of merchandise where the suspects had fled the area on foot.

Investigation of this complaint revealed that the 2 persons involved in this theft were also in possession of stolen property from four other stores from the Quinte Mall. As well, police recognized the male involved in the theft.

A short time later the male and female were observed in a restaurant on North Front Street. Police attempted to arrest the male but the male again fled on foot. Police pursued the male in a foot chase to a multiple unit residential complex in the area of Grier and College Street West and at that time the male was observed to enter a residence via a second floor balcony. Police contained the building and OPP Canine attended to assist with the search for the male.

At 10:16 p.m. police located the male within the building and attempted to arrest the male but the male resisted arrest. The male was eventually arrested and transported to BPS.

A 21 year old Tyendinaga Township male has been charged with:

One count of Theft under $5000.00

One count of Breach of Probation

One count of Escape Lawful Custody

One count of Assault with Intent to resist Arrest

Four (4) counts of Possession of Property Obtained by Crime

One count of Unlawfully in a Dwelling

This male will appear in Provincial Court for a bail hearing on 26 October, 2011 at 1:00 p.m...

Breach of Undertaking

Belleville, Ontario ? On 25 October, 2011 at 3:01 p.m., while on general patrol police observed a vehicle in the area of Bridge street West and Coleman Streets occupied by person(s) known to police not to be each others' presence. Further investigation resulted in a 29 year old Belleville male being arrested for Breach of Undertaking. This male will appear in Provincial court on 26 October, 2011 for a bail hearing at 1:00 p.m...

MVCat Dundas Street and Bay Bridge Road

Belleville, Ontario ? On 26 October, 2011 at 3:09 a.m., police attended at a single motor vehicle collision at Dundas Street West and Bay Bridge Road. There were 4 adults in the vehicle and the vehicle struck a pole at this intersection. Two of the four occupants were transported via ambulance to Quinte Health Care- BGH with serious injuries.

Belleville Police Service Traffic Management Unit is conducting this ongoing investigation and remains on scene performing traffic control while clean up is conducted and replacement of the traffic control system is completed. This is expected to take until 12:00 p.m. on 26 October, 2011.
