Motor Vehicle Collision - Hit & Run
Belleville, Ontario - On the 25th of July 2009 at approximately 11:30 pm Police received a report that a vehicle was travelling east in the westbound lanes of Dundas Street East.  As officers were en route to the location,  further information was received that the vehicle was involved in an accident on Herchimer Avenue. The suspect vehicle involved  is a  white Jeep Cherokee, and was located abandoned in the city's east end. The investigation is continuing, The vehicle that was struck was not occupied at the time of the collision.  Anyone with information is asked to contact the investigating officer, Cst. Shorey.

 
Breach of the Peace 

Belleville, Ontario - On the 26th of July 2009, at approximately 12:45 am officers attended in the east end in regards to a disturbance. Upon arrival they spoke to a female who was yelling and cursing . She was arrested for breach of the peace and lodged in the cells.

 
Break and Enter

Belleville, Ontario - On the 26th of July 2009 at approximately 1:00 am, Police were called to a  north end business for a break and enter. It appears as though there was nothing taken and no suspects were located.

 
Liquor License Act

Belleville, Ontario - On the 26th of July 2009 at  approximatley 3:00am, a male was observed urinating on a north end business. An officer stopped and spoke to the male who became belligerent. The male then provided a false name . He was arrested for Public Intoxication and taken into custody.  He was released later that morning.

 
Domestic Distrubances 

Belleville, Ontario - On the 26th of July 2009 Police responded to addresses in the west end of the city for two domestic related occurrences.  The first one resulted in a 36 year-old Belleville man being arrested on assault and breach of probation charges.  He is being held in custody pending a show cause hearing set for July 27th in Provincial Court.

 

A second occurrence involved a man and a woman arguing over money issues.  This occurred in the same neighbourhood as the first one; however there was no physical confrontation.  An investigation revealed that the argument was over some money issues.  Assistance and information was provided, and police departed this scene without further incident.

 

Robbery 

Belleville, Ontario - On the 26th of July at 7:50 pm police responded to a robbery call in the east end of the city.  Police report that an unknown male suspect pushed the 61-year old victim into the Moira River, stealing the victim?s wallet.   Police have a suspect description, and the investigation is continuing.

 

Public Morals 

Belleville, Ontario - On the 26th of July 2009, a call to the Empire Square during the closing night of ?Hippie Fest? had police locating and speaking with a 39 year-old Belleville woman about exposing herself in an apartment building above the crowd.  Witnesses assisted in pointing out the apartment to police.  Two females and four male persons in the apartment were spoken to and were advised to try and enjoy the concert without disrupting the crowd below.  All persons were co-operative and stated they understood.  Police left this scene without incident.

Belleville, Ontario - Police responded to a total of 24 calls for service in the preceding twelve hours including noise complaints, alarms, trouble with youth, harassment, family disputes, and traffic complaints.
