Impaired Driving
Belleville, Ont. ? On October 26, 2009, at 2:07 a.m., police observed a vehicle stop at the red traffic signal, facing southbound on Front St. When the light changed to green, the vehicle accelerated rapidly, spinning its front tires. The vehicle continued to accelerate as it proceeded through the intersection and continued southbound. The vehicle became airborne as it went over the elevated Canadian Pacific railway tracks. The vehicle eventually stopped on South George Street. The male driver became actively resistant and assaulted the officer by pushing him. A 32 year old Belleville male is charged with one count each of Drive While Impaired, Refuse to provide Breath Sample, Resist Arrest and Flight from Police. The male has been held for a Bail Hearing set for October 26, 2009.
Break & Enter
Belleville, Ont. ? On October 26, 2009, a Front Street business owner reported an attempt Break and Enter to his business. Sometime over night suspects attempted to gain entry through the back door of this location. Although there is damage reported to the door entry was not gained to this business.
Belleville, Ont. ? On October 26, 2009, at 12:33 a.m., a home owner on Cedar Street reported an attempt Break & Enter to his residence. The home owner woke to hear someone trying to gain entry to his front door. When he went to investigate he observed two males, dressed in black, jump over his fence fleeing towards Murney Street. Police located three males in the area ages 17 years to 27 years and are currently investigating this incident.
Disturbance
Belleville, Ont. ? On October 26, 2009, at 10:00 p.m., police responded to a Disturbance call at a Boswell Street address. While enroute further information was received that a male had been struck on the face with a beer bottle. A 24 year old Belleville male was arrested and charged with three counts of Breach of Recognizance. He was held for a Bail Hearing set for October 27, 2009.
Fraud
Belleville, Ont. ? On October 26, 2009, police received a report of a Fraud at the Quinte Mall. The store reported gift cards were purchased with what was later found to be a fraudulent credit card. The card was used three times on the same date here in Belleville to purchase three separate gift cards totaling $1500.00. Further investigation revealed the gift cards were then used in the City of Toronto a few days later. This fraud is currently under investigation.
Shoplifter
Belleville, Ont. ? On October 26, 2009, a male took $300.00 worth of XBox accessories from a North Front Street Video store. He fled the store without making any attempt to pay for the items. He was last seen running north bound on North Front Street. A short time later another video store on North Front Street reported the same male attempted to return the items to their store requesting a refund. He again fled from this store when confronted. The suspect is described as 5? 11?, 160 lbs, shaved head, wearing a burgundy and gray winter jacket. This incident is under investigation.
Theft from Vehicle
Belleville, Ont. ? On October 26, 2009, at 4:50 p.m., a vehicle owner reported his vehicle was entered while parked at the Bayview Mall. The vehicle had been parked on the west side of the mall and suspects smashed the passenger side window and removed an Acer laptop from the vehicle.
