Belleville Police Service responded to 95 calls for service from the 26th of July 2019 at 5:00 a.m. to the 27th of July 2019 at 5:00 a.m.
Belleville, Ontario – On the 26th of July at approximately 12:00 pm, as a result of a domestic assault reported on the 23rd of July, an 81 year-old Belleville male was charged with assault and released on a promise to appear. He was given a court date of the 12th of August to answer to the charge. His identity is being withheld to protect the victim.
Belleville, Ontario – Belleville police assisted Belleville Fire with two structure fires during the past 24 hours. The first was on the 26th of July at approximately 5:00 pm when an abandoned building on Station St. that was the former site of Trudeau Motors caught fire. The fire was extinguished and it is being treated as suspicious at this time.
On the 27th of July at approximately 2:30 am, police and fire responded to a call of a fire at a residence on Dundas St. E. Police, fire and paramedics attended. The Fire Marshall and Police Forensic Identification unit have been called in to investigate. The investigation is still underway at the time of this release.
Public Intoxication Arrests
Belleville, Ontario – On the 27th of July at 12:15 am, police arrested a 31 year-old female for public intoxication after an officer on patrol on Bridge St. West in the area of Everett St. observed a male and female involved in a disturbance. After attempting to diffuse the situation, the officer eventually arrested the Belleville resident for her own safety and the safety of others. She was transported to The Belleville Police Service where she was held until morning at which point she was released on a provincial offence notice for public intoxication.
On the 27th of July at approximately 1:30 am, police were called to a north end licensed establishment with regards to a large fight. As a result of the disturbance, a 22 year-old Belleville male was arrested for public intoxication and taken to The Belleville Police Service where he was lodged until morning and released on a provincial offence notice.
On the 27th of July at 3:30 am a 24 year-old male and a 19 year-old female were arrested for public intoxication after being sent on their way once earlier in the night from a north end licensed establishment. The two went a short distance before bringing more attention to themselves by getting into a dispute and staggering onto North Front St. Both were taken to cells until morning and later released on provincial offence notices.
