Assault Charges for Transportation Fraud
Belleville, Ontario - On Sunday May 15th, 2011 police attended the parking lot of the apartment complex located at 75North Front Street inBelleville in response to a report of a female cab driver who had been assaulted by a patron.
Police were advised that when confronted about paying a fare from Trenton around 23:40 hrs May 14, 2011, one of two males in the vehicle grabbed the victim by the neck, threw her to the ground and got on top of her. When a witness yelled at the male and called police, the suspect left the scene on foot.
Investigation of this complaint led police to a Harmony Road residence where Steven Johnson (27 years) of Stirling, Ontario was arrested today. Johnson has been charged with 2 counts of Breach of Recognizance, one count of Assault and one count of Transportation Fraud. Johnson appeared in Provincial court on 27 May, 2011 for a bail hearing.
