Belleville, Ont. - On August 27, 2009, at 6:30 p.m. police responded to a disturbance call on Front Street. Police interviewed the victim who reported having an ongoing issue with another tenant in his building. On this date the victim was walking on Victoria Ave near Front Street where he was approached by this other tenant. It is alleged the tenant made threats towards him and as he approached punched the victim on the face causing his nose to bleed.
Police arrested the 52 year old Front Street resident for Assault. The accused was subsequently released on a Promise to Appear, Officer in Charge Undertaking, with a court date set in October 2009.
Belleville, Ont. - On August 27, 2009, police received a complaint from a citizen of Belleville who thought he was ?scammed?. The victim answered an ad he found on-line promising an instant job. The victim was to do selective shopping for the company and he responded to the ad as being interested. This was followed by a phone call from an unknown number with job instructions. The victim received a cheque for $1,248.52 in the mail and was requested to cash it. He was then instructed to go to Wal-Mart and other select stores and purchase certain items. He was then requested to forward the remainder of the money, through Western Union to the company. The victim did all this as requested. He then received a second cheque for the same amount and was requested to do the same thing, only this time he didn't cash it. He then found out that the first cheque was bogus and he was now responsible for paying back the money to the financial institution where he cashed the cheque. This investigation is currently ongoing.
Belleville, Ont. - On August 27, 2009, at approximately 3:30 p.m., Police attended Walmart regarding a shoplifter. Security reported having observed a male trying to open the package of a small computer disc. The male was unable to get the package open at that time however moved to another location within the store. The male was then able to open the package and conceal the item. He then left the store without attempting to pay for it. This item is valued at $120. An 18 year old Marmora man was arrested and charged with one count of Theft Under. He was released with an October 2009 court date.
Belleville, Ont. - On August 27, 2009, at approximately 8:20 p.m., a female was walking on east bound College Street East when she was approached by a male driving a newer model Black, 4 door vehicle. The driver was mid 20?s to 30 years old, with a well tanned complexion, short hair and wearing sun glasses. The lone occupant asked her directions to Moira Street and as she approached the vehicle she observed the male?s pants were pulled down and he appeared to be masturbating. As the victim turned away from the vehicle the male reached out of the car and attempted to grab her. The victim fled from the area. Direction of travel of the vehicle is unknown. There are no suspects at this time and this incident is still under investigation.
