Break & Enter(s)

Belleville, Ontario ? On August 26, 2010, police responded to three reports of Break & Enter.

The first incident was reported at a business in the plaza at 444 Dundas Street West. Entry was gained after suspects threw a large piece of pavement through a front door window of the business. An undisclosed amount of cash was taken. This Break & Enter occurred sometime between 5:00 p.m. on the 25th and 8:00 a.m. on the 26th.

Sometime between 3:00 a.m. and 8:00 a.m. on the 26th a home on Tripp Avenue was entered while the home owners slept. Suspects took an XBOX 360 gaming system, 4 Controllers and various games and DVDs.

Police responded to a third Break & Enter on Octavia Street. The home owners report entry was made to their home sometime between August 25th at 11:00 a.m. and August 26th at 11:00 a.m. As in the previous Break & Enter an XBOX gaming system was taken.

All of these Break & Enters are currently under investigation,

Theft & Fraud

Belleville, Ontario ? On August 26, 2010, a woman reported she inadvertently left her wallet on a counter in the food court of the Quinte Mall. Within a short period of time she was contacted by Visa indicating her card had been used at various stores on Bell Blvd to a total amount of $700.00.

Police would like to remind the public to ensure PIN numbers are not stored in the same location as the corresponding transaction cards and to record the phone numbers of all banking institutions you are registered with while keeping these numbers separate from your cards so you are able to contact them immediately after the theft or loss of a transaction card.


Belleville, Ontario ? On August 26, 2010 at 10:13 a.m. police received a report of the theft of a number of Lottery tickets from a store on Front Street. It was reported the male grabbed the tickets and fled the area on a bike.

After having been given a description of the male Police located the suspect on Bridge Street East in the area of the YMCA. When the suspect spotted the officer he dropped the bike and fled on foot. After a short foot pursuit the suspect was arrested at 10:24 a.m. on Smith Cres.

Charged with one count of Theft is Daniel Heasman, 28 years old from the City of Belleville. He was released with a court date of October 21, 2010.
