The Belleville Police Service responded to 72 calls between August 26th 2019 at 5:00 a.m. and August 27th 2019 at 5:00 a.m.

Multiple charges for a Belleville woman

Belleville, ON – On the 26th of August 2019 at 5:00 p.m., police were called to Bell Boulevard regarding a female who had been observed shoplifting from a north end store.  An off duty police officer witnessed the theft and attempted to detain the female but was then assaulted causing minor injuries.  The female was located on a nearby side street and assaulted the responding officers as they attempted to arrest her, again causing minor injuries.  The 31 year-old Belleville woman was found to be in possession of more stolen property and was also breaching her probation order.  There was also currently an outstanding warrant for her arrest.  The woman now faces eight new charges as a result of the incident and was held in custody for a bail hearing.

Male found breaching

Belleville, ON - On the 27th of August 2019 just after midnight, police attended a west-end apartment for an unwanted male.  The unwanted male was located and was found to be breaching a release condition for an outstanding charge which was to reside at an address in Kingston.  The 24 year-old Kingston man was held for a bail hearing.   

Collisions

Belleville,  ON – On the 26th of August 2019 at 11 a.m., police responded to the intersection of North Front Street and College Street for a minor motor vehicle collision.  As a result of the investigation, one of the drivers was charged with failing to stop at a red light.

Belleville, ON – On the 26th of August at 5 p.m., police responded to the intersection of Dundas Street East and George Street regarding a minor motor vehicle collision.  As a result of the investigation, one of the drivers was charged with careless driving.
