Driving Offences

Belleville, Ontario - On December 26, 2010 at approximately 1:30 p.m., police observed a grey Honda southbound on North Front Street with an expired validation sticker. A check of the vehicle's licence plate revealed the permit had, in fact, expired in October 2008. The driver had not obtained a new permit in several years, could not provide proof of insurance and a further check of his driver's licence revealed it had been suspended in May 2010 for unpaid fines. The driver was charged under the HTA 53(1) with Drive While Suspended; HTA 7(1)(a) Drive Motor Vehicle without Currently Validated Permit; CAIA 2(1)(a) Drive without Insurance and Reg.361/98 of the EPA 9(13.1) with Operate Gasoline Fuelled Light Vehicle That Contravenes Emission Standards.
