Motor Vehicle Collisions

Belleville, Ontario – On December 26th, 2017, at 6:47 a.m. police attended on Dundas Street East in relation to an accident involving a car and a snowplow. A hydro pole has also been sheared off. Veridian attended to repair the pole. The car was towed from the scene. A motorist was charged with failing to yield to traffic on a through highway. There were no injuries.

 

On December 26th, 2017, at 8:23 a.m. police attended at the Quinte Mall as a car had struck an unoccupied car. There were no injuries. No charges were laid given that the accident occurred on private property.

 

Mischief

Belleville, Ontario – On December 26th, 2017, at 10:42 a.m. police attended at a disturbance in the Quinte Mall parking lot. During the dispute a male party punched out the driver’s window of a car. The investigation is continuing.

 

Thefts

Belleville, Ontario – On December 26th, 2017, at 11:45 a.m. police attended at a north end business in relation to a shoplifter who had been detained by store security. It was also learned that the male was involved in a similar theft on December 24th. A 32-year-old Belleville man was charged with two counts of theft under $5000.00. He will appear in court on January 25th, 2018.

On December 26th, 2017, at 6:45 p.m. police attended at a Bleecker Avenue residence in relation to a theft of Christmas presents. An 18-year-old Belleville man was arrested at the scene. He was charged with theft under $5000.00 and unlawfully in a dwelling house. He will appear in court on January 25th, 2018.

 

Traffic-related incidents

Belleville, Ontario- On December 26th, 2017, at 8:48 p.m. a traffic stop on Cannifton Road led to a charge of driving while under suspension on a 30-year-old Belleville man. His car was impounded for seven days. He will appear in Traffic Court of January 22nd, 2018.

On December 26th, 2017, at 11:51 p.m. an officer on patrol stopped a speeder on Hwy 62. The 44-year-old Campbellford man had been drinking and received a three-day licence suspension. His car was towed from the scene.

 

Family Disputes

Belleville, Ontario – Officers attended at six family disputes over the 24-hour period. There were no charges in these incidents.
