Belleville, Ontario ? On 25 February, 2012 at 11:39 p.m., police attempted to a stop a white Chevrolet pick-up truck on Bell Blvd. The operator of the truck failed to stop for police and fled the area by travelling eastbound and eventually northbound on Highway 37. The pursuit of this vehicle was terminated by Belleville Police a short time after the pursuit started.

At 12:42 a.m. (26 Feb.12), officers on patrol observed a suspicious truck behind a business on Cannifton Rd. This truck fled the area travelling eastbound on College St. East away from the City of Belleville. Police learned that this was the same truck that had failed to stop for police one (1) hour earlier.

Police continued to peruse this vehicle into Tyendinaga Township where attempts to avoid the police eventually led the vehicle off the road (at Hwy 49 and Whalen Road) where the vehicle continued to travel off-road on a snowmobile trail. The truck was located in the bush abandoned.

Belleville Police Service was assisted by OPP and police eventually located a male in an unoccupied residence on Enright Road.

A 33 year old Belleville man remains in custody awaiting a bail hearing on February 27th, 2012. His charges include 2 counts of Flight from Police, 3 counts of Breach of Recognizance, Unlawfully in a Dwelling House, and Breach of Probation.
