Moira Street - Shots Fired

Belleville, Ont. ? On January 24, 2008 at approximately 10:30pm, police were called to a Moira Street West home regarding shots being fired. Uniform members as well as the

Belleville Police Service Emergency Response Team responded to this location.

On arrival police secured the perimeter of the house. A male and female, both residents of the City of Belleville, exited from the rear yard of the house and approached police. Both reported knowing nothing of the ?shots being fired? nor could give police any information as to whom, if anyone was still in the residence.

Two other males exited the residence and turned themselves over to police. Both, residents of the city of Belleville, denied having any knowledge of ?shots being fired? in the residence.

Police subsequently searched the resident and seized three firearms, one 22 caliber rifle, one 222 caliber rifle and 20 gauge shot gun. One of these weapons was found to be loaded and two of them were unloaded.

Also seized was other property previously reported stolen to police.

Peter WALTERS, 20 years old, from Belleville is charged with one count each of Unauthorized possession of a firearm, Careless Storage of a Firearm , Possession of a Firearm Obtained by Crime, Possession of Property Obtained by Crime and

Breach of Firearms Regulation

WALTERS was released on a Promise to Appear, OIC Undertaking with a March 2009 court date.
