31 year old Belleville Male Facing Several Charges After Extensive Fraud Investigation

 

On Tuesday, July 26, 2016 at 9:20 am, police attended a residence on Herman Street in regards to a neighbor dispute regarding a possible theft.   Members of the Criminal Investigations Division of the Belleville Police Service had already obtained a search warrant for this residence in regards to a lengthy fraud investigation which began earlier this year but involved police investigating offences from 2009 to 2016.  The accused is alleged to have been defrauding and stealing money from an elderly male Belleville resident who has since passed away during this time period for approximately $250,000. 

 

As a result of this investigation, 31 year old Martin MORE of Belleville, Ontario was arrested and charged with:        

                   

  • Fraud over $5,000Sec. 380(1)(a)

  • Theft of Credit CardSec. 342(1)(a)

  • False Pretenses over $5,000Sec. 362(1)(a)

  • Possession of Schedule 1 Substance CDSASec. 4(1)

     

    Martin More has been remanded in custody pending a bail hearing.  Police are continuing their investigation and further charges are pending.
