Update – 27th March 2017

The 29 year old male pedestrian from Toronto who was injured in the collision has been transferred to Kingston General Hospital with serious injuries. As a result, investigators with the Traffic Safety Unit have been unable to interview him. No names are being released at this time. A further update will be provided when available.

Original - Serious Motor Vehicle and Pedestrian Collision

On Sunday 26 March 2017 at 12:58am EMS, Fire Rescue and Belleville Police responded to a report of a pedestrian struck by a motor vehicle in the area of Dundas Street West and James Street. (west of Coleman Street).

The pedestrian, a 29 year old Toronto area man was taken to Belleville Hospital with serious injuries. The driver of the motor vehicle, a 44 year old man from Tyendinaga Township, northeast of Belleville, was arrested at the scene for a drinking and driving offence. Alcohol was a factor in the collision. 

Dundas Street West was closed at 1am between James Street and Bay Bridge Road and is expected to be closed for several more hours (as of 445 am).

The investigation is ongoing.
