BELLEVILLE – Investigators with the Belleville Police Criminal Investigations Division are seeking the public’s information after a 38-year-old temporary Canadian worker wanted for sexual assault who is believed to have fled to Jamaica.

During the afternoon hours of August 19, 2015 a 40-year-old woman attended the Belleville Police Service reporting a sexual assault involving two males at a location in the city.

As a result of the investigation that ensued, one of the suspects was identified as Leonard “Marcus” Augusta GIBBS. On Thursday August 27, 2015 police issued an arrest warrant on one count of sex assault for GIBBS.

It is believed at this point GIBBS has fled to Jamaica. Investigators are working with international authorities and the Canadian Border Services to track him down.

At this point, police are appealing to the public for information regarding the whereabouts of GIBBS and for any information regarding the incident and/or identity of the second male.

The second male is described as being black, 5’9 to 5’10, Jamaican accent, thin build.
