Suspicious Package


Belleville, On – On 27 December 2017 at 11:00am, the Belleville Police Service were contacted in regards to a suspicious package that was observed left unattended near a gas pump at a busy gas station on North Front St.  Upon arrival by officers the package was determined to be a briefcase.  No one at the gas bar had any knowledge of the briefcase.  Police cordoned off the immediate area around the gas bar while they conducted an investigation. 


Shortly after 11:30am, police were able to identify the person who placed the briefcase next to the gas pump and departed.  The Belleville resident was contacted who apologized for the confusion and advised that he was throwing the briefcase out / into the garbage but it didn’t fit into the garbage can so he left it beside the pump. 




Drug Arrest


Belleville On – On 27 December 2017 at 3:00pm officers on patrol stopped a vehicle on Cannifton Rd.  As a result of the traffic stop and the ensuing investigation, a 17 year old male was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana, possession of MDMA, breaching his probation and failing to comply with an undertaking.  The male was later released on a Promise to Appear with a court date in January at the Quinte Consolidated Court House in Belleville.
