Accidents
Belleville, Ontario – The Belleville
Police Service responded to 9 accidents throughout the city during this 24 hour
period.
At
8:47 a.m. a minor two car accident was reported on North Park St. It was
referred to the Collision Reporting Center.
At
9:38 a.m. a two car accident was reported on Herchimer Avenue at Bridge Street
East. No one was charged in this incident.
At
9:51 a.m. a cyclist was struck by a car on Pinnacle Street at Victoria Avenue.
The car failed to remain at the scene of the accident. The cyclist was taken to Quinte Health Care
by EMS for a minor leg injury. The
suspect vehicle is described as a newer model red Toyota Camry. This investigation is continuing.
At
10:34 a.m., an elderly woman was struck by a car at the intersection of Bridge
Street and Church Street. She was taken
to Quinte Health care by EMS for treatment of minor injuries. This investigation is continuing.
At
12:43 p.m., a two car accident was reported on Bridge Street East at Ann
Street. An 86 year old Belleville man
was charged with careless driving.
At
1:01 p.m. a three vehicle accident was reported on North Front Street at
College Street. One driver suffered minor neck injuries and was transported to
Quinte Health Care by EMS. A 77 year old
Centre Hastings woman was charged with "start from a stopped position – not in
safety”.
At
3:25 p.m. a minor two car accident was reported on Station Street at Pinnacle
Street. It was referred to the Collision Reporting Centre.
At
5:27 p.m., a two car accident was reported on North Front Street. A 31 year old Peterborough woman was charged
with "left turn – not in safety”.
At
10:12 p.m., a motorist struck a dog on Station Street. The dog was transferred
to a local vet. No charges were laid.
Spraypainting
incident
Belleville, Ontario –On
June 27th, 2013, at 4:40 p.m. police attended on Dundas Street East near
Herchimer Avenue as two 12 year olds had threatened to spraypaint another
youth. An officer located the youths and
seized a can of spraypaint. Closer examination of the can revealed that it had
been recently used. This led to the
discovery of a nearby building which had been spraypainted. The owner of the building was receptive to alternative
measures in lieu of charges. Both boys
were turned over to their parents.
Stolen vehicle
Belleville, Ontario – On June 27th,
2013, at 7:25 p.m., a vehicle was reported stolen from a business on Adam
Street. The vehicle is a 1998 Buick Lesabre green in colour. It has Ontario
plates AZWX 396. The car had a black bra
on the front grill. The car was taken
sometime during the day on June 27th.
Shoplifter
Belleville, Ontario –On
June 27th, 2013, at 9:00 p.m. police responded to Bell Blvd. in
relation to a male shoplifter who had fled from store security. Officers
located the male on Harris Crescent and a foot pursuit ensued. The suspect was followed to a backyard on Tracey Street. The male, who was under the influence of
drugs, was actively resistant and was tasered by police. Once arrested, he was transported to Quinte
Health care by EMS for treatment for his drug issues. Once stabilized, he was kept in custody
awaiting a bail hearing on June 28th. His charges include possession
of stolen property and breach of probation. All of the property was recovered.
The 20 year old male hails from Marlbank.
