Motor Vehicle Collisions

Belleville, Ontario On Friday, September 27, 2013, police responded throughout the day to six motor vehicle collisions.

At 11:41 am, police responded to Strachan Street in regards to a truck damaging power lines along the street. Hydro attended and the street was temporarily closed until it was deemed safe to reopen. This investigation is continuing.

At 12:09 pm, police responded to the intersection of Bridge and Sidney as a pedestrian had been struck. Investigation revealed that the pedestrian had failed to obey a traffic signal and had walked into the side of the vehicle. Ambulance attended but was not required as the pedestrian received only minor injuries.

Police also responded to several accidents on private property.

At 6:25 pm, police responded to a parking lot on Bell Boulevard when a silver Saturn ran into a median in the lot and was leaking oil and the car was smoking. The Belleville Fire Department attended as well. There were no charges.

At 7:34 pm, police then responded to a parking lot on Bridge Street West to investigate a motor vehicle collision involving two vehicles. This resulted in property damage only and no charges were laid due to the fact it was on private property.

Break and Enter

Belleville, Ontario On Saturday, September 28, 2013 at 1:02 am, police responded to a residence on South Church Street in regards to a break and enter in progress. Police attended and determined that unknown suspect(s) had entered the residence through a window. Investigation revealed that alert neighbors had interrupted the break-in causing suspect(s) to flee the area. It is unknown at this time whether or not anything was taken. This investigation is continuing.
