Recovered Stolen Vehicle

Belleville, Ontario – On December 28th, 2016 at 1:51 p.m. a resident on Leland Drive left a 2002 Chrysler Intrepid running in the driveway. The vehicle was stolen and police were called. As the officer was taking the report, the car returned and the driver surrendered to the investigating officer. A 24-year-old Belleville man was arrested and charged with theft of a motor vehicle of a value under $5000. He will appear in court on February 9th, 2017.  There was no damage to the vehicle.

Trespassing

Belleville, Ontario – On December 28th, 2016 at 7:45 p.m. police attended on Albert Street in relation to an unwanted person. The person left upon request, but returned once the officers drove away. Police re-attended and arrested a 39-year-old Belleville man for trespassing under the Trespass to Property Act.

Intoxicated Male

Belleville, Ontario – On December 28th, 2016 at 9:28 p.m. police attended on Front Street over a concern that a man had fallen several times. A 45-year-old Belleville man was arrested for his own protection under the Liquor Licence Act. He was issued a Provincial Offence Notice for being intoxicated in a public place.

RIDE Program

Belleville, Ontario – The RIDE Team set up at various checkpoints across the City on December 28th into the early morning hours of December 29th. A total of 237 cars were checked.

Officers seized marijuana from two separate vehicles. The drivers’ ages were 25 and 17. No charges as a result of the drug seizures.

A total of 5 tickets were issued to motorists- novice drivers driving in contravention of conditions.

One motorist, who was a suspended driver, was issued a summons to appear in Traffic Court. He was charged with driving while under suspension.

Another motorist was required to provide a breath sample but registered a “pass”.

Three-day licence suspension

Belleville, Ontario – On December 29th, 2016 at 3:07 a.m. an officer stopped a speeding vehicle on Bridge St. East at Burnham Street. A 36-year-old Belleville woman provided a breath sample into a roadside screening device and registered a “warn”. Her drivers licence was suspended for three days.
