Belleville Police Service responded to 78 calls for service from the 28th of July 2019 at 5:00 a.m. to the 29th of July 2019 at 5:00 a.m.

 

Sturcture fire

 

Belleville, Ontario – Due to a structure fire still being fought on South Park St. at the time of this release, police are asking motorists to avoid Moira St. between College St. and Pinnacle as barricades are in place. There is no information available for release other than that at this time.

 

Shoplifters

 

Belleville, Ontario – On the 28th of July shortly before noon police responded to a north end retail store with regards to a theft that store security caught on camera which had occurred a few days previous. Police were able to identify the 31 year old male suspect from the video and a warrant for theft is currently being sought for his arrest.

 

Belleville, Ontario – On the 28th of July at 3:00 pm, police attended the same north end retail store with regard to the theft of a hammer. A description of the male suspect was broadcast and an officer on patrol located the male a short distance away. The 65 year-old Belleville male was arrested and released on an appearance notice for theft under $5000. Manos Tsichlas was given a court date of August 22nd to answer to the charge.

Breach of Probation

Belleville, Ontario – On the 28th of July 2019, Belleville Police took into custody a 40 year-old female who had an arrest warrant issued for her in April of this year for failing to comply with her probation as a result of her failure to report to her probation officer. Donna Wapshaw was released on a promise to appear with a court date of August 22nd to answer to the charge.
