Male arrested on March 28th for Arson; arrested again on March 29th

An 18 year old male who was arrested on March 28th for Arson in relation to the damage to the washroom facility at Victoria Park (refer to press release of March 28th) has been arrested again.

 

On March 29th, at 1:00 p.m., this 18 year old male contacted one of the witnesses in the case who he was banned from having any contact with.  The calls escalated to the point where he threatened to cause bodily harm to this witness.  In addition he threatened to burn another person?s house down.  Police tracked this male to a payphone downtown where he was arrested without incident.  This male has been held for a bail hearing on March 30th.

 

In addition to his original charges of Arson to Property and Break, enter and commit mischief, he now faces the following charges:

 

(a)   failing to comply with an Undertaking

(b)   utter threats to cause bodily harm

(c)   utter threats to burn property

(d)   mischief to property not exceeding $5000.00

The mischief charge is in relation to an incident from March 20th where a door to a business on Pinnacle St. was kicked by the accused.

 
Street Disturbances

On March 29th, at 3:15 a.m., Police attended on Murney St. for the second time.  A male was observed carrying an iron bar.  He was arrested at this point and the bar was seized.  Further investigation revealed that this male was responsible for the earlier disturbance.  In that one, a car windshield was broken by a rock.  The accused had also picked up a 2? X 4? in the first skirmish.  The accused also violated a number of conditions of an earlier release.  One condition was ?no alcohol?, while another condition banned an association with a named person.
