Assault with a Weapon

Belleville, Ontario ? On November 29, 2009, at 12:40 a.m., police responded to a call for assistance at a Tracey Park Drive address. Further investigation revealed the victim had been sleeping when he woke to find a family member and another unknown male in his bedroom. The victim was threatened to leave the residence and was then struck on the head with a wooden bat. Both males had left prior to police arrival and the victim was taken to, and subsequently released, from Belleville General Hospital for treatment to his head injuries. Later this same date a 31 year old male was arrested and charged with one count each of Assault with a Weapon, Assault Causing Bodily Harm, Utter Threats, and Unlawfully in a Dwelling House. He has been detained in Custody for a Bail Hearing. This incident is still under investigation.

Assault with a Weapon

Belleville, Ontario ? On November 29, 2009, at 1:27 a.m., Police received a report of a stabbing at the intersection of Bridge Street West and Coleman Street. It was alleged two males had been involved in a confrontation with the victim in a nearby parking lot. One of the males produced a knife and slashed the victim on the face. The two males then fled the area. There were several witnesses at the scene who assisted the victim until he could be taken to the hospital for treatment.

A short time later a 23 year old Belleville male was arrested and charged with one count each of Assault with a Weapon and Aggravated Assault, Breach of Probation. He was held in custody for Bail Hearing set for November 30, 2009. The victim was later released from hospital.

Bail Violations

Belleville, Ontario ? On November 29, 2009, at 1:09 a.m., police received a complaint from a west end homeowner that a male was banging on her door. On police arrival the male attempted to walk away. The male was extremely intoxicated and initially refused to identify himself. He was arrested for Public Intoxication contrary to the Liquor Licence Act. Further information was received that this male was on previous release conditions not to be at this address and not to consume alcohol. He was further charged with two counts of Breaching of an Undertaking. The 56 year old Belleville male was later released with a Promise to Appear with further Officer in Charge release conditions.

Bail Violations

Belleville, Ontario ? On November 22, 2009, a 23 year old Belleville male had been released on a Promise to Appear and OIC Undertaking as a result of a domestic assault and uttering threats. One of the conditions of his release was non communication with the victim.

On November 27, 2009, an off duty police officer observed the male and the victim shopping together in a local store. On November 29, 2009, the male was arrested and further charged with Fail to Comply with Undertaking.
