Drugs and R.I.D.E
The Belleville Police service started its yearly R.I.D.E program on the evening of the 27th November 2015. Within minutes of setting up the team, a vehicle turns away from the set up to avoid the stop. The vehicle was stopped on Emily Street. Investigations lead to the arrest of a 47 year old Toronto area man and a 41 year old Stirling Ontario female. The two parties were charged with four counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking in a controlled substance (Cocaine $4000, Heroin $2400, Crack Cocaine $1100, and Morphine $340). The officers also seized over $4600 in cash, the two parties have been held in custody for a bail hearing on the 30th November 2015.
On the 28th November 2015 at approximately 12:30 am the R.I.D.E team was set up on Dundas Street west. The officers checked a vehicle which had a strong smell of marijuana coming from the inside of the car. The investigations lead to the arrest of a 18 year Belleville resident for possession for purpose of trafficking in marijuana. The male was released from custody with a court date of 17 December 2015. The value of the marijuana was approximately &50
Impaired Driver
On the 27 November 2015 at approximately 7:00 pm police attended a single car accident on Bell Boulevard. Investigation revealed the driver of the vehicle a 61 year Campbellford woman had been drinking alcohol while driving the vehicle. She was arrested for impaired operation of a motor vehicle. The female blew over three times the legal limit. She was later released on a Promise to Appear with a court date of the 17th December 2015
