Belleville Police Service responded to 59 calls for service from the 28th of September 2019 at 5:00 a.m. to the 29th of September 2019 at 5:00 a.m.
Belleville, Ontario – On the 28th of September shortly after 5:00 a.m., police were called to Herchimer Ave with regard to a dispute between a taxi driver and his fare. The dispute resulted in a minor physical altercation between the two. No injuries were sustained. The fare, a 34 year-old city resident, was arrested for public intoxication, taken to The Belleville Police Service, and later released on a provincial offence notice.
Belleville, Ontario – On the 29th of September at 3:45 a.m., an officer on patrol on North Front St. located an extremely intoxicated male who claimed that he was attempting to walk to Madoc. The 27 year-old male eventually was arrested for his own protection and taken to The Belleville Police Service. He was issued a provincial offence notice and released later that morning.
Impaired by drug
Belleville – On the 28th of September shortly after 10:00 a.m., police received a number of calls from concerned citizens with regards to a driver on Sidney St. who reportedly drove up onto the curb on a number of occasions and ran at least one red light. The vehicle eventually wound up in the parking lot of 366 North Front St. after driving through the Quinte Mall parking lot. When the driver appeared to be headed back out onto North Front St., he was corralled by the concerned public who kept him there until police arrived. 20 year-old Belleville resident George Grigoriou was arrested for driving while impaired by drugs. A drug recognition expert from The Ontario Provincial Police was called in to assist. Grigoriou was later released on a promise to appear on charges of Impaired by alcohol and drug and impaired by having an elevated blood drug concentration. He was given a court date of October 17th to answer to the charges.
