Belleville, Ont. ? On May 3, 2009, at 12:24 a.m., police received several phone calls regarding a large disturbance at a Blessington Road address. Information was provided to police that a male victim was assaulted and, possibly, had facial injuries.

The persons responsible had fled the scene prior to police arrival.

After further investigation police learned that the victim was a passenger in a vehicle driving on Blessington Road when they came upon a large group of youths blocking their path. It is alleged these youths refused to allow the vehicle to pass. The driver of the vehicle honked the horn several times and, eventually, the youths began to separate to allow the vehicle to pass through. 

While moving ahead, the vehicle was struck on the passenger side, by an unknown object.  At that time the victim exited the vehicle to speak to the youths who threw the object at the vehicle.  Words were exchange between the victim and the youths and  one of the youths struck the victim at which time the victim was ?swarmed?.

A 43 year old Whitby man was taken to Belleville General Hospital with facial injuries.

Residents Blessington Road also reported damage to mailboxes, believed to be caused by persons leaving the party. This incident in still under investigation

Intoxicated in a Public Place

Belleville, Ont. ? On May 3, 2009, shortly after midnight, Police received a report of an intoxicated male lying on Church Street. A 45 yr old Belleville man was arrested for his own protection under the Liquor Licence Act.  He was charged with Public Intoxication.


Traffic officers set up a checkpoint on North Front Street in the early morning hours and after checking 117 vehicles, they arrested a 20 year old Orillia man.  He was charged with having excess of 80mgms and released on a promise to appear.

Intoxicated Person

Belleville, Ont. ? On May 3, 2009, shortly after 3:00a.m., staff at a North Front Street eatery reported a female who was extremely intoxicated.  The 26 year old Belleville woman was arrested for her own protection.  She is charged with Public Intoxication and later released.

Break & Enter

Belleville, Ont. ? On the 3rd of May, 2009 at 10:16pm policed responded to an Everett Street address concerning a Break and Enter.  The home was entered sometime between 4:20pm and 10:15pm.  Electronics and jewelry was taken.
