Police Pursuit

Belleville, Ontario ? On 03 December 2011 at 12:03am Belleville Police Service by Central Hastings O.P.P. Officers that they were trying to stop a motor vehicle for driving erratically. The vehicle was southbound on Highway #62 approaching the Belleville City limits at which time the pursuit was terminated by police. A few minutes later Belleville Police Service Officers spotted the vehicle and were able to set up a spike belt as the suspect came southbound on Sidney Street over the 401 Highway overpass approaching Bell Blvd. A short pursuit resulted with the vehicle - after it drove over the spike belt - through the Tracey Park Drive area. One Belleville Officer received minor injuries and was later treated and released from hospital. This resulted from a sideswipe collision with the suspect vehicle. Belleville Officers terminated the pursuit just as the vehicle came to a stop with the driver fleeing on foot. Two other Officers received minor injuries during the arrest of the suspect after a brief foot chase. They were also both treated and released from hospital. The suspect was not injured.

Maurice Victor Martin, age 27 years of Bancroft, Ontario is charged with fail to Stop for Police, Dangerous Driving and Impaired Driving. He will appear in Belleville Criminal Court on December 19th 2011.
